I have always loved the classroom practice of daily journal writing. Journal writing is a fun way to get students to think, to get them to be silly, to incorporate math, to hear what they have to say, and to get to know who they really are.  That is exactly what this course is designed to do!  In this on-going class, learners will respond to a question or writing prompt in a writing journal which they will keep.  Regular writing practice allows children to build their confidence in their writing.  They will be introduced to and practice writing skills such as:  Capitalization, punctuation, and spacing their words out.  Writers will strengthen their sentences by adding details and descriptive words when needed.
Learners will be encouraged to write their responses and ideas to suit their abilities.  They will also be encouraged to illustrate their response and to share with the others in their Journal Club.  
I like to have fun and get to know my students.  This class is designed to be educational and helpful as well as informal so that they feel comfortable to express themselves.  My hope is that this allows for learners to get to know others and themselves all while practicing their writing skills!
