Have you ever wondered what classes are out there to help you become fluent in Japanese? I know I have. Well, I have designed this five-part beginner class (and more classes to come) to help you on your journey to becoming fluent. This class will not only help you learn grammar and vocabulary efficiently and effectively but will also help you learn about the culture and the people as well. I will put you in real-life situations where you will be encouraged to use Japanese to successfully communicate with others. After this lesson, students will be able to Week 1: 1. Learn how to use the short form for affirmative and negative sentences (short form is informal) -verbs, -i-adjective -na-adjective Week 2: 1. Understand why Japanese use short form sentences and how to make them -In represented or quoted speech -In casual conversation to show intimacy -In making negative requests (Please don't...) Week 3: 1. Explaining what you like and don't like to do (I like studying the Japanese Langauge, I don't like cleaning my room). 2. Explain what you are good and not good at (Robert is good at cooking meals, Takeshi is not a good speaker of English) Week 4: 1. When to use Ga in a sentence and when to use Wa in a sentence. 2. Learn when to say "something" as a statment, "anything" as a question and "not anything" as a negative statement. Week 5: 1. Read a story using the grammar points and vocabulary that we have learned 2. Learn when to use family members (mother, father, brother, sister, grandmother and grandfather in formal situations). 3. Learn the body parts (head, shoulder, stomach, chest etc.) You will definitely enjoy this class. We will play in class games, provide visual aids to help guide discussion, group discussion and real life situations to solidify what to say in certain situations. Some examples of real life situations would be what would you say if someone stepped on your foot, if someone saw your messy room how would you explain it? I want you to feel comfortable and engaged while learning. There is a pre-requisite. You will either need to know how to read, write and speak Hiragana and Katakana before this class or take Hiragana and Katakana classes simultaneously. You will also need to have taken Road to Fluency Beginner Class 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 or know all the material in this class. Please bring an open mind and be ready to learn. Please note: "All material will be presented via PowerPoint and screen shared by the teacher. The games will also be screen shared by the teacher. Learners will not click links, access outsides websites, or need to login to any accounts."
