I believe children learn to play an instrument if they enjoy it and part of that is being able to play a recognisable song.  In this beginner series of lessons students will learn the notes required to play well known songs.  The emphasis in the beginner classes  is on learning the song, it is not necessary to be able to read the music although this would be an advantage.  To learn to play recorder and read music take a look at my new recorder learning system 'Steps on the road to recorder brilliance'.

It is recommended that learners have attended at least one class in the Play That Tune level 1-2 series of classes before attempting this class or be able to hold the recorder correctly with the left hand on top and play at least 3 notes and some simple tunes such as Hot Cross Buns.  This class is also suitable for learners who have completed 'Step 3 on the road to recorder brilliance' and want further practice with the notes learned and a new song in their repertoire.

We will begin with introductions to each other and today's song; Itsy Bitsy Spider.  We will sing the song together, and clap the rhythm. 
The students will follow the instruction of the teacher and a colourful on screen presentation to learn, practice and play Itsy Bitsy.  As we learn we will practice tonguing techniques and discuss the notation and dynamics.
Every learner will be heard individually and as a group, so the teacher can be sure that all learners have understood and can complete the tasks.

Please note: playing an instrument can take time and practice.  This class will teach the techniques and notes required for the tune. Some learners will have a natural ability, however for most it will take practice after class.
