Experiencia de clase

In this one-time workshop, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of beat-making through using the online DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) Soundtrap, a free-to-use COPPA-compliant tool used to create digital music. By the end of the workshop, students will have learned the basics of drum programming, melody creation, chords, and sampling.

The workshop will be primarily lecture-based with student participation. Students will have the option to follow along using Soundtrap or participate in the interactive lecture through Zoom.

No prior knowledge or experience is needed at all for this class! While a background in music such as having taken piano lessons is very useful in digital music production, it is not a requirement whatsoever.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will learn abought drum programming (how to make a drum pattern) what a melody is and how to make one, what chords are and how to build them, what tempo or bpm is, and how a song is structured.

Orientación para padres
The class will be using a free-to-use COPPA-compliant tool used to create digital music called Soundtrap. Students are encouraged to create a free account at Soundtrap.com but are not required to. It will be used for demonstrational purposes, but students are more than welcome to participate using Soundtrap and practice the lessons from the workshop. From The Soundtrap FAQ webpage: Q: Is Soundtrap for Education compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)? A: We take children’s safety on the web very seriously. By default, Soundtrap for Education is designed to comply with COPPA, GDPR, and FERPA standards and supports CIPA certification. All users are initially placed in a safe, protected environment where they can collaborate. Their profiles are not visible to the outside world and they cannot contact or be contacted by people outside of their group. A minimal profile allows only for the first name and last name to be stored in the profile. No profile pictures, tags, locations, or descriptions are stored.
Lista de útiles escolares
