In this class I will meet twice per week with the learner to practice math. We will learn and practice skills that are discussed with the parent prior to class. Topics may include standards that are typically learned in fourth grade through eighth grade.  These topics could include fractions, decimals, geometry, word problems, and prealgebra.

 I will utilize the whiteboard, real life situation, and word problems as much as possible!

I will follow up with the parent after class to inform them of any topics that may need to be practiced more. 

I’m excited to work with your learner this year!

Hi!! I’m Mrs. Drye. I have a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from UNC Chapel Hill and a Masters Degree in Middle Grades Math Education from UNC-Charlotte. I was a NC Teaching Fellow and Teacher of the Year when I taught 6th grade math!  As a teacher I focus on building relationships with students so that I can help them to build their math confidence. I focus on differentiating learning for each of my students. I can extend learning for some learners while helping others to review a topic that’s tough for them. I encourage students to share their math thinking and guide them in learning new strategies. I also keep class fun and exciting with games, discussion, and songs! I taught 5th and 6th grade for 8 years before deciding to stay home and homeschool my three girls. My daughters are now 10, 8, and almost 6! I enjoy exploring new places, teaching, and exercising!
