If your child shows an interest or love for music, this class is for them! Class is structured the same way because little learners thrive on routine and predictability! We will learn music concepts including but not limited to: Pitch, melody, tempo, dynamics, rhythmic patterns, using different vocal sounds, body percussion, and exploring found and environmental sounds. I structure my class with all learning styles in mind! We follow a visual schedule and will have these general "anchor" activities: --Hello song with ukulele --Movement songs --Instrument Activity --Singing songs --"Calm Body" Activity --Goodbye song: We sing goodbye to each friend and work on transitioning out of class. No previous music experience is necessary! My goal is to engage each child and encourage and foster their love of music. *I am certified by the State of Maryland to teach BOTH Music K-12 and Special Education. I have 6 years of experience teaching music in an early childhood special education setting.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hello! I'm Music Katie :) I am currently a full-time music educator at an early childhood special education center. I have 7 years of experience teaching music in public schools.
I have a B.S. in Music Education, a B.A. in Vocal Performance, and a M.Ed in Arts Integration. I am certified to teach both music K-12 and special education. I am here to bring my knowledge and background in both areas and I am offering inclusive music classes. Inclusive means that they are designed with all types of learners in mind! I take a holistic approach and address the developmental, social-emotional, communication, cognitive, and physical needs of your child.
I believe that music is for everyone--- ANYONE can participate and be successful in music...including YOU!
I am originally from Virginia but now live in Maryland with my husband who is a fourth grade teacher. We are expecting our first baby in March!
