This is a games class in which improvisational acting is the vessel for creativity, social interaction and play. Students will hone their acting skills through different types of improvisational situations and activities. Exercises will build an understanding for listening and cooperating with fellow thespians, creating engaging conversations, using timing, enhancing dramatic expression and more. Emphasis will be placed on the joy and playfulness of acting. We will be working to deepen our understanding of the craft of improvisation as well as improving social skills. At the end of each lesson some class time will be given for discussion and reflection on the activities. All experience levels welcome. Practicing improvisation develops inner flexibility, enhances listening skills and supports healthy social skill development. Play brings levity and requires spontaneity. Lessons will require the students to move freely. It is recommended that the student's camera and computer are readily accessible AND out of the way from being accidentally knocked (up against the wall is a good place). Additionally it is recommended that there is room for ample movement that the student's camera can register (an open room behind would work well). Occasionally students will use a paper and pencil or pen to write and/or sketch a bit. Please have them available.
Recursos externos
Los estudiantes no necesitarán utilizar ninguna aplicación o sitio web más allá de las herramientas estándar de Outschool.
Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I am a certified Waldorf teacher who taught in a Waldorf school for 18 years as both a class teacher and Movement/Games teacher. I passionately believe in the Waldorf pedagogy which is aimed to facilitate free thinking through education of the head, heart and hands. In 2017 I left the local Waldorf school and have been enjoying exploring a variety of pursuits, including teaching ESL on-line, caregiving, travel and chi gong. I love to teach! Having taken two classes through grades one through eight, I have taught classes in just about every elementary school subject there is. I especially enjoy teaching artistic subjects such as painting, drawing, storytelling and drama; but I also enjoy teaching ESL, meditation, games, dance, geography and mythology.
I live in Central Vermont, USA where I enjoy cooking, meditating, Zumba and other dance workouts, hiking and, most of all, laughing - the spice of life.
