This class is designed as an ongoing club of drawing workshops that teach lessons using animals. This club blends tutorials and student practice to help students further their work in an easy going, low pressure atmosphere.
Students are encouraged but not required to draw the entire class. Students are welcome to just observe as the teacher draws live.

Each class is separate and structured in the same way, the only key difference being we will choose a different animal to draw each week, like a drawing club. 

Each week students will be able to practice drawing an animal and watch as the teacher draws different animals. The teacher will demonstrate many things during class, including; 

-How to begin a drawing of an animal
-How to change and improve their drawing
-What parts of a drawing to focus on and when 

An example of the weekly drawing goal is as follows
Week 1: Group drawing and discussion of a mammal 
Week 2: Group drawing and discussion of a reptile 
Week 3: Group drawing and discussion of a sea animal 
Week 4: Group drawing and discussion of a bird 
Week 5: Group drawing and discussion of a marsupial 
and so on.

This is a mixture of studio classes, online learning and small group experience - enabling students to engage at a level that's comfortable for them. After class and any time during the week students are encouraged to upload photos of their work for an encouraging critique from the teacher. Many students enjoy showing their work, but for the students who don't care to share, there is absolutely no pressure and they receive just as much encouragement as those who choose to share. 

Students are continuously encouraged to draw during class, but reminded it's just practice.

Students will be able to receive feedback on their work (if they wish) as well as advice.

Metas de aprendizaje

Some learning goals are 
-To provide a space for students to draw animals and have fun!
-To show students how the teacher (a trained artist) draws different animals 
-To teach, show, and help students to draw, specifically animals but also in general.
-For students to be encouraged and supported in their love of art and drawing. 
-For students to learn the beginnings of some simple but universal drawing techniques .
-To increase the students' confidence, excitement, and independence when it comes to their drawing skill.

Lista de útiles escolares

Students will need:
1. 3 pencils (graphite or charcoal. 1 pencil is fine but students with only 1 pencil will need to sharpen it more than those with 3).
2. An eraser (I use the large “pink pearl” eraser, but any eraser is fine as long as the student has plenty to work with, aka not an almost worn out pencil eraser).
3. Un-lined or copy paper (a simple unruled sketchbook or notebook works well, if only to cut back on clutter and possibly lost works, but loose paper is just fine as well)
