1-2 horas por semana. On average there is usually 1 homework assignment each week. Homework may be a short reading from the science journal, collecting materials for an upcoming experiment, or completing an experiment that we started in class. Completing assignments make it possible for our class time to be productive and fun. Here is a list of probably assignments for each week: WEEK 1: Research a Scientist WEEK 2: Journal Reading; Density Scavenger Hunt WEEK 3: Journal Reading WEEK 4: Journal Reading WEEK 5: Journal Reading WEEK 6: Journal Reading WEEK 7: Design Your Own Momentum Experiment WEEK 8: Newton's Laws Summary PageEvaluación
Students are constantly assessed informally throughout the class. Written tests or teacher evaluations or grades are available upon request.Calificación

Grado de EE. UU. 4 - 6
This hands-on, interactive science class gives students in GRADES 4-6 a foundation in the basics of physics. Through experiments, engaging books, and fascinating, interactive science videos, students discover the way the world works around them. The class follows the R.E.A.L Science Odyssey curriculum, which incorporates math, the scientific process, and science topics at age-appropriate levels. Students create scientific models, compare results, form questions, and interpret data, just like REAL scientists! This class may be taken as a stand-alone class, but it is also designed to be part of a full-year 36-week science curriculum for grades 4-6. This class is PART 1 of 4. PART 1 (this class): Intro to Physics PART 2: The Physics of Rube Goldberg PART 3: Invisible Forces PART 4: Electricity & Quantum Physics ****************************** STRUCTURE OF CLASS ****************************** Each class is 45 minutes in length and consists of a variety of activities, depending on the topic being studied. Learning activities in this class include, experiments, discussions, readings and engaging videos. Students are expected to come to class with their science journal and materials ready to go. (See materials list) ****************** SUMMER 2023 ****************** WEEK 1: INTRO TO PHYSICS What does a physicist do? Activities: Observing Toys; Lego Parachute; Your Weight Around the Solar System WEEK 2: DENSITY What is density? What is displacement? Activities: Density Scavenger Hunt; Density Tower WEEK 3: FORCES & EQUILIBRIUM What is a force? What is equilibrium? Activities: Hopper Popper; Balancing Butterfly WEEK 4: BALANCE & ENERGY How do balance & equilibrium work together? What is energy Activities: Build a Paper Bridge; Cars in Motion WEEK 5: NEWTON'S FIRST LAW What is a scientific law? What is inertia? Activities: Inertia Can Be Dizzying; Pulling Toys; Penny in a Jar WEEK 6: FRICTION What is friction and how does it affect inertia? Activities: Creating Friction; A Friction-less World WEEK 7: NEWTON'S SECOND LAW What is Newton's Second Law of Motion? What is momentum? Activities: Marble Ramps; Basketball Momentum; DYO Momentum WEEK 8: NEWTON'S THIRD LAW What is Newton's Third Law of Motion? Project: Finding Newton in Toys Book: Ferris and His Wheel WEEK 9: NEWTON'S THIRD LAW Where can we see Newton's Law in everyday things? Activities: Balloon Rocket; Project Presentations ********************************************** FULL HOMESCHOOLING CURRICULUM ********************************************** This course may be taken alone, but is also part of a full homeschooling curriculum I offer on Outschool for grades 4-6. If you're interested check out my Outschool schedule or this pdf of my full 2023-24 school year classes. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_qHHoWIdIQ5Edc2ryy5HPe3FZWOhxnRh/view?usp=sharing
