In this one time class, we will explore how this amazing piece of technology helped shaped women's independence. We will start off with a brief look at the history of the bicycle, who was it primarily marketed to, to its increased popularity and how it replaced the horse. We will discuss its impact on women's health, changing fashion, independence from their families, and how it taught women of the 1800's that anything was possible. We will also discuss the reaction from those who did not like the idea of women's equality and the suffrage movement.
