Experiencia de clase

Hour of Code™ is a nationwide initiative by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and computer programming.

In this activity, we will program the actions of our dancers using Scratch, a block based visual programming language. Scratch lets users create programs by arranging program elements graphically rather than textually. Using this block programming method to introduce core CS concepts makes the knowledge more accessible to inexperienced students.
This activity introduces the core CS concepts of coding and programming, as well as simple debugging techniques.

This activity has been designed for learners of all ages but does require reading. It also requires sound as the tool was built to respond to music.

***Nothing needs to be downloaded or installed for this class. All that is required is a web browser.***
Metas de aprendizaje
Develop programs that respond to timed events
Develop programs that respond to user input
Create dance animations with code

**If you don't see a class and time that works for you, let me know! I'm more than happy to create classes for other engineering and technology topics or set up sections around your schedule.**

Hi! My name is Justin! I have an extensive background in technology. I've worked in government, first in the US Army as a telecommunications technician and as a satellite controller. Then I had the amazing opportunity work for the National Science Foundation's Antarctic Program as the satellite communications engineer at McMurdo Station. I lived on the ice for eight months in the winter!

In the Army I taught my young soldiers everything they needed to know for our jobs. And here at home before the pandemic I was starting to teach classes at my local Makerspace.

I am a Maker. I love learning how things are made, discovering how they work, and fixing them when they break. I have a desk filled with Arduinos and other gadgets. We aren't going to be in a classroom together, but we can learn a lot about how things run by learning how to program them.

I'll be posting classes for these topics, so keep an eye out for them! And if there's anything else you're interested in, let me know! I'll see what we can do about it.
