In this semester-long class, your learner will learn life skills such as; crochet, canning, cooking, crafting, gift-making, and more. This is a life skill course similar to that of home economics. Each week your learner will learn a new skill that will build self-confidence and critical thinking skills. My class begins with safety rules and class rules each week. Each child will receive a list of items to gather before class usually the Monday before class. Your learner will be expected to be prepared. I will be working with your learners and showing or telling them step-by-step what to do and how to do it. My teaching style is relaxed and encouraging.
Your learner will be 100% interactive in this class. There is no required experience.

We will learn safety rules for cooking, canning, and microwaving before we do those activities. We will learn how to handle hot cookie sheets, bowls, jars, pots, and containers of hot liquid. We will learn how to test soaps, fragrances, and dyes to make sure we are not sensitive to those products. We will learn how to make simple crochet projects such as a washcloth to use with our soap. We will learn how to make small gifts out of our leftover ingredients. We will touch on how to save money by making, gifting, and selling these products. My goal is when your child leaves this class they have a renewed sense of self-confidence, and that their critical thinking skill will be enhanced. That they can use the tools and techniques they have learned in class to make products for their home, their family, and their community.
Go ahead and gather a group of friends and have your learner's friends in class with them, in your own home or in their home but, all together in class. I look forward to working with you and your learner. Let's bring back "handmade", "semi-homemade", and homemade to our homes and communities. What a great way to learn and grow.
