Students will be taught about the various debates and hypothesis regarding the mass extinction around 66 million years ago, wiping out famous fauna like the non-avian dinosaurs, pterosaurs and plesiosaurs The topics covered will be as follows. 1) The Marine Regression Hypothesis 2) The Deccan Traps Hypothesis 3) The Chixiclub Impact Hypothesis 4) The Multi-stressor Hypothesis Now each hypothesis will be looked at, observing the evidence for, and the debates against each hypothesis, this is specifically so that students can be informed and learn to evaluate the various debates to encourage critical analysis. My class will be structured along looking at the time of these debates and breaking them down. As this is looking at debates, I will teach using a mixture of video images, slides, and primarily discussion, while students do not need to pull up the videos and slides themselves, I have listed them under materials so students know what to expect. My teaching style will primarily be described as interactive, with this topic, I want to ask students their thoughts, if your student is comfortable, I want them to question the information I give them and not take it at face value. Learners will get to interact with me through discussion, lectures and video clips.
