This class is designed to provide young students with an opportunity to learn to think historically and critically. We will spend our time thinking, discussing, and understanding historical topics/ideas and information pertinent to modern historical theories that will explain how to study and learn history. Furthermore, students will learn how to raise important historical questions and understand the role of questions in historical thinking and learning. This class will show that history is not a list of dates, names, and events that one has to store up in memory but a challenging journey through the complicated past.
Metas de aprendizaje
This class will thus emphasize the development of cognitive skills such as historical/critical thinking, analysis, and relating different historical topics to one another.

Fuentes
There are many sources that are used for teaching and discussing historical and critical thinking in this class. Dr. Brezina's experience as a teacher and professor of history will allow him to introduce select articles to help students interpret the current theories, helping students understand history as a way of thinking and system of understanding. For example, he will draw from The Historical Journal and History Today magazine, both of which are commonly used as objective and well-respected sources in the field of history. (However, the students are not required to purchase or use these journals.)
