Hip Hop 101

In this fun-filled and interactive class, students will be introductory Hip Hop technique through video instruction and demonstration. We will use traditional instruction, creative movement, and curriculum-based games to learn the "basics" of Hip Hop.

Each class will include the following learning opportunities:
1. Warm-up
2. Floor stretch
3. Center work
4. Simple combinations and choreography
5. Dance class etiquette

Using this class format, we will learn the following items on our syllabus:
Week 1: Lateral movements (step-touch, bridge walk, chasse)
Week 2: Triplets (B-step, weighted chasse, knee-ups)
Week 3: Other Hip Hop styles, including Tutting and Popping
Week 4: Review techniques

We will learn a short combination each week. Additional terminology and techniques may be introduced, depending on the level of the enrolled students. I focus on making my classes fun and productive. My students love developing skills through creative, engaging play and lots of positive feedback!
