Discuss the difference briefly between the 2 "yous" in Spanish

Numbers
Learn numbers and number patterns in Spanish culture is Puerto Rico
Lesson 4
Alphabet and pronunciation
Introduce all letters in the Spanish alphabet and teach letter sounds/pronunciation in Spanish

Lesson 5
Calendar Terminology
Learn vocabulary dealing with the calendar such as days of the week, months, and seasons. Culture is Spain
Lesson 6
Telling time
Using the numbers from the previous lesson we will learn asking and telling time in Spanish

Lesson 7
School Terminology
Learn vocabulary related to school culture this week is Dominican Republic
Lesson 8
Personal Pronouns and Question Words
subject pronouns, question words and the expression "hay" in Spanish also we will look at how punctuation is a little bit different than in English in certain sentences.

Lesson 9
Clothing Terminology
Learn vocabulary related to clothing items and also adjectives to describe the clothing. Culture is Bolivia.
Lesson 10
Sentence Structure
Big week! We will learn all about using articles, adjectives and nouns together in a sentence, we will focus on gender and making sure that all the words are in order and agree in gender and plurality

Lesson 11
Geography Terminology
Learn vocabulary based around vocabulary and discuss the gender rules from last week. Culture is Honduras
Lesson 12
Plurality
Continue forming small phrases with the gender agreement from last week, this week focusing more on working with plural nouns

Lesson 13
Animals
Vocabulary focusing around animals and learning all the most common animals in Spanish. Culture this week is Argentina
Lesson 14
Ser vs Estar
In Spanish there are 2 ways to express the verb "to be" ser and estar and we will discuss the difference between the 2.

Lesson 15
Family Terminology
Vocabulary pertaining to family and possessive adjectives. Culture is Ecuador
Lesson 16
Using the verb ser
Sentences using the ser ver regarding family relationships.
 Week 9
Lesson 17
Around Town Terminology
Vocabulary dealing with locations around town and using maps to practice the vocabulary. Culture is Colombia
Lesson 18
Estar and Prepositions
Using prepositions of location paired with estar to describe a map or give directions.
 Week 10

Food Terminology
Learn expressions and words focused around foods. Culture is Nicaragua
Lesson 20
The Verb Gustar
Use the phrase "me gusta" or "no me gusta" to express likes and dislikes.

Learn how to say if you are in pain in a specific area of the body and to ask if someone is a pain.

Lesson 24
Intro to Verb Conjugations
Intro into the beginning of Semester 2 where will will start conjugating verbs and creating full sentences in Spanish
  • Develop a basic understanding of sentence structure in Spanish
  • Aquire basic Spanish Vocabulary such as greetings, numbers, basic adjectives, body, food, family, animals and around town
  • Understand basic Spanish grammar concepts such as article/adjective/noun agreement, ser and estar, pronunciation and more leading up to introduction to verb conjugations
I have my Masters degree in Spanish Education k-12, I have taught at all levels from preschool to college. My most recent experience being a college professor of Beginning Spanish levels 1 and 2. I also have studied abroad in Central America, have a bachelors degree in Spanish as well as Anthropology and I hold a Masters certificate in Latin American Studies and a linguistics based certificate in ESL.
