Biología de secundaria (semestre I)
Este curso intensivo de Biología dura un semestre. Los estudiantes se inscriben luego en el segundo semestre para recibir el crédito completo de la escuela secundaria. Cada semestre consta de doce semanas del curso.

1-2 horas por semana. All homework must be submitted in the private Outschool classroom for review. Falling behind in homework will make it difficult to get caught up but students have succeeded in doing it.Evaluación
Students will be assessed with periodic practice online quizzes and students can record their results privately. Their grade is not based on these results. Students grades are based on a point system. Each assignment turned in is logged into my grade book for accountability. I review the homework. If they have found an error, they may correct it and resubmit. Class assessments are what I base the student's grade on. The Presentation will be assessed by the instructor. I have an online rubric that students fill in and is privately submitted automatically. Presentations are required to receive a completed grade.Experiencia de clase

Nivel Beginner
Prerequisites: Excellent reader (8th-grade level), ability to follow instructions, writing/spelling ability (8th-grade level), and ability to work independently to complete assignments on time. Students will use an Online Biology Textbook (read DISCLAIMER) as a resource. This text or workbook is online. Students will have required homework to do weekly. This will require reading and completing assignments submitted to the instructor through the Outschool platform. Labs will be available. A pic or report must be uploaded to prove they have completed the assignment. (Please note that I do not cover Evolution or Human Anatomy in this course. Anatomy is covered in the Advanced Biology class. This is why I can complete this course in twenty-four weeks.) Students will learn various concepts using paper, pipe cleaners, and other household materials. I enjoy teaching concepts in a simplified manner for students to understand. Students will also have classroom discussions. Ex: Cancer or genetic traits. Students will have homework, read, research, or view videos to grasp the concepts taught. ***I do not cover Evolution or Anatomy. I prefer to spend more time on the molecular and cellular part of Biology. DISCLAIMER: The internet is ever-changing. An online textbook may be removed at any time. I will do my best to supplement or locate another online text to complete the course.

Students will learn to gain confidence in knowing the tools that will equip them to do homework efficiently and quickly. They will also learn organizational skills as well as learn various learning methods to achieve that grade they so desire.

We will use MacGraw Hill, Glencoe Biology, Reading Essentials, Student Edition, 2007. Please note that if this text can no longer be accessed online; I will provide another online text.
Requisitos previos
Students must be able to read up to 8th-grade level. They should be self-motivated to get the weekly assignments in class time.

Materials: This is a list of items we will use in future labs. We will not need them all on the first day. Colored pencils metric ruler Scissors Tape Different sheets of colored paper Magazines that have animal or plant photos Assorted pipe cleaners Assorted pom-poms of various sizes Straws Clear plastic cups or clear glass jars food coloring tray Playdoh (assorted colors) toothpicks fine steel wool fire starter (Bic lighter with a long end) long metal tongs 2 slices of bread peanut butter Jelly of any flavor strawberries (fresh or frozen) dishwashing liquid (Dawn Pure Essentials) sea salt Ziplock bags (quart size) small sieve measuring spoons measuring cups small shells small leaves of any kind variety of seeds *Students do not need their microscopes. We will use online images or the instructor will show the students specimens with a computer microscope. I will have labs for the students at home. This is to fulfill their lab requirements for this course.
