Because this is a high school course, all material cannot be learned during class time only. Therefore weekly assignments will be required for the student to master the course. Homework will be reviewed during class time. if the student found an error or didn't know how to answer it, class time is when corrections may be made. All homework must be submitted in the private Outschool classroom prior to class time. Falling behind in homework will mean that the student cannot be able to respond to questions in class. If this is the case, the student will still participate by reading or answering the question logically. They are not excepted from participating.
Evaluación
Students will be assessed with periodic practice online quizzes and students can record their results privately. Their grade is not solely on these results. Students grades are based on a point system. Each assignment turned in is logged into my grade book for accountability. The class reviews the homework orally during class time. If they have found an error, they may correct it as we go along. Class discussions, submitted assignments, and oral assessments are what I base the student's grade on. The Project and presentation will be peer-assessed. I have an online rubric that students fill in and is privately submitted automatically. Presentations are required to receive a completed grade.

Please note that I do prefer videos ON during classroom time.

Prerequisites: Excellent reader (8th-grade level), ability to follow instructions, writing/spelling ability (8th-grade level), and able to work independently to complete assignments on time.

Students will use an Online Biology Textbook (read DISCLAIMER) as a resource. This accessible text or workbook is online to read and work on assignments. Students will have required homework to do weekly. This will require reading and completing assignments submitted to the instructor through the Outschool platform. During class time we will review assignments and have discussions. Some labs will be done during class. Other labs or projects may be done outside class time. A pic or report must be submitted to prove they have completed the assignment. (Please note that I do not cover Evolution or Human Anatomy in this course. Anatomy is covered in the Advanced Biology class. This is why I can complete this course in twenty-four weeks.)

Students will have two projects during this course. They are to upcycle something and the end-of-the-year presentation. The presentation will be peer-assessed. I have an online rubric that students fill in and privately submit automatically to the instructor for viewing and grading.

Students will learn various concepts using paper, pipe cleaners, and other household materials. I enjoy teaching concepts in a simplified manner for students to understand.
Students will also have classroom discussions. Ex: Cancer or genetic traits.
Students will have homework, read, research, or view videos to grasp the concepts taught.

***I will have labs for the students in class or at home. This is to fulfill their lab requirements for this course.
***I do not cover Evolution or Anatomy.
I prefer to spend more time on the molecular and cellular part of Biology.
Anatomy is covered in Biology II. I do offer this course.

DISCLAIMER: The internet is ever-changing. An online textbook may be removed at any time. I will do my best to supplement or locate another online text to complete the course.
