Have you ever wondered why rocks are all different? Why are some rocks smooth, while others are sharp and jagged? Where did the rocks in your collection come from? And will they last forever? In this class, we'll talk briefly about what a rock is and where rocks come from. Then we'll make an interactive model using playdoh or modeling clay. We'll learn about different ways that rocks can form and change, and find out that scientists have names for rocks at each stage of the process (igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary). As we work, we'll fill out a diagram of what we did at each stage, and learn a fun game to help us remember the rock cycle. No previous knowledge of geology is required for this class.
