I this class, we will be reading fiction and nonfiction books at Level P. While practicing our reading, we will be improving fluency and other reading skills. We will figure out tricky words by sounding them out, rereading, and talking about what would make sense. We will also learn new vocabulary words. We will learn grammar such as parts of a sentence. These are nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. In this class, we will also be working on comprehension. We will discuss and write about the elements of fiction stories such as the characters, setting, problem, and solution. We also discuss and write about what we learn in nonfiction books. We compare and contrast and talk about the main ideas and supporting details in nonfiction books also.
