Being a girl is tough, and going through puberty can seem like the absolute worst! What are all these changes to my body? Why am I feeling happy one minute and angry the next? Is this what growing up feels like? Do boys have to deal with any of this?

You may have more than a few of these questions, and I am here to let you know some things you can expect during this often crazy time in life. 

More importantly, you will learn some fantastic ways to help balance those emotions, manages the changes happening to you, and have meaningful conversations with trusted adults who can help you long term. 

This course will be primarily discussion based, and it will answer the following questions:
-What is puberty?
-Why do I feel so many emotions?
-How can I feel better when things just seem so out of control?
-Who do I talk to when I have questions or concerns about my body or my emotions?

Students will be allowed and encouraged to ask questions.

We will also learn specific tools to manage stress and emotions, including but not limited to:
-Journaling
-Yoga
-Deep Breathing and Meditation
-Affirmations
-Constructive Destruction Exercises

Metas de aprendizaje

Students will learn the basic process and purpose of puberty in females for background context. 

Students will learn tools which they can use for managing emotional stress during puberty and beyond.

Students will learn about how to engage in meaningful conversation with trusted adults, such as parents, doctors, and school guidance counselors, in order to develop lasting trust and communication when they have questions or concerns.

Orientación para padres
Although there will not be any vulgar video or imagery, the contextual discussion does involve the topic of puberty and thus sexual organs. These will be referred to by their anatomical names. This portion of the class will be brief and is only to understand hormones and body changes, such as periods; it will be the shortest part of the course.
