Join me as we travel back to the days of the gods and goddesses from Mt. Olympus as we learn one new myth each week! These stories are thousands of years old and aren't just interesting, they're also often trying to teach the reader a lesson. Students will read each myth and work together to figure out the moral! Students will be encouraged to read fluently and confidently as I check for comprehension throughout the myth. Once we've discussed the myth, we'll get to spend the rest of the class doing an art project that represents the myth! Some weeks the craft may take longer than our class time together. If that happens, students are welcome to post a picture of their masterpiece in our classroom! Week of August 1: Pandora's Box Week of August 8: Cyclops Week of August 15: Arachne and the Spider Week of August 22: Psyche and Eros Week of August 29: Achille's Heel Week of September 5: The Trojan Horse Week of September 12: Hercule's Strength Week of September 19: Echo and Narcissus Week of September 26: Atlas Week of October 3: King Midas Touch Week of May 1: Perseus and Medusa *There are weekly supplies that are needed, but they should be materials you can already find in your house. Please check the weekly supply list. If your learner does not want to craft, they can always draw a picture or even bullet point the main traits of the characters.

Hello families! I’m Amanda and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach your learner! I love everything about education and feel consider being a teacher as part of who I am. It is my passion!
I have a bachelor's degree in elementary and special education, two active teaching licenses in Arizona and reading and ESL endorsements. I've been teaching since 2017 and I'm working towards a master's in child and adolescent development.
My goal as your learner’s teacher is to inspire them to be lifelong learners. Learning is scary and requires a lot of vulnerability to take chances knowing you could make a mistake. I pride myself on helping students feel safe, confident, and secure in themselves. I’ve always seen tremendous growth in students when they are in an environment that allows for them to safely make mistakes and learn from them.
I’m looking forward to meeting your learner and joining them in their educational journey!
