Unit 1: What is a sentence?
Our journey begins with the exploration of sentences, the very fabric of language. Through interactive discussions and engaging activities, students will discover the essential elements that constitute a sentence: the subject and the predicate. By examining various examples and participating in hands-on exercises, learners will grasp the concept of what makes a sentence complete and learn to distinguish between complete sentences and sentence fragments.

Unit 2: Nouns and Pronouns
Building upon their understanding of sentences, students will delve into the world of nouns and pronouns. Learners will practice identifying and classifying different types of nouns. They'll also explore the role of pronouns as substitutes for nouns, understanding how pronouns streamline communication and enhance clarity in writing.

Unit 3: Subject/Verb Agreement
In this unit, learners will be introduced to subject/verb agreement. They will learn to differentiate between singular and plural nouns and verbs and learn the three common rules for subject/verb agreement (singular subjects take singular verbs and plural subjects take plural verbs).

In this unit, learners will turn their attention to adjectives. These descriptive embellishments add color and depth to language. We will learn to identify adjectives, words that describe nouns, and use them in our writing.

Hello Outschool Families!
I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to teach and connect with learners here on Outschool. With 14 years of teaching experience, I’ve had the privilege of working with students of all ages in a variety of settings.

I began my teaching journey working as a substitute teacher at the elementary level while taking classes to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Social Studies Education. After earning my degree, I taught 10th-grade World History at a large public school in South Florida. Teaching history was a dream come true, and I loved every moment of it! At the end of my fourth year teaching high school, my husband's job transferred him to Virginia where I began working as a lead teacher at a preschool over the summer. I thought teaching preschool was just going to be a summer job, but it turned out that I fell in love with the littles and teaching early literacy and reading.

After the birth of my daughter, I transitioned to online teaching. I’m grateful for the flexibility it offers—both for my students and myself. One of the best parts of teaching on Outschool is connecting with learners from all over the world.

Teaching is my passion, no matter the platform being used. There is nothing quite like seeing learning "click" for a student and watching them begin to excel on their own. My favorite topics to teach are history as well as early literacy, reading, and writing. I'm an avid reader myself and it brings me great joy to see my students get as excited about reading as I do!

I look forward to meeting your child and joining them on their learning journey. I hope to see you in class soon!
