When Grace Campbell discovers that the United States has never had a female president, she is shocked and wants change. Her teacher creates a mock election, allowing her class to understand the democratic processes and the electoral college. However, Grace quickly learns that this will be a tough race- her opponent claims he is the "best man for the job" while Grace insists that she is the best person. Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hello! I am a 6-12 English and History/Social Sciences certified public school teacher in Florida. I have been teaching for twelve years, including four years in the synchronous online environment. Although I love teaching middle and high school English and history courses, I also enjoy teaching, tutoring, and coaching younger students- I have over twenty years of experience teaching students as young as three years old, including online toddler time!
On Outschool, I offer history and social science classes for young students, semester-length English and history courses for middle and high school students, and an SAT preparation course using a method with proven success. Many of my courses reflect themes uncovered in the dichotomous Cold War climate, government systems, and the analysis of art and literature from around the world. I am always adding new courses as well!
I have an MA in Teaching from Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD (2009). My undergraduate degree is a double major in history and classical archaeology and ancient history (2007, Franklin and Marshall College). As a history undergraduate, I had the opportunity to conduct independent academic research through a grant provided by my college and researched and wrote a thesis: "Austrian Memory of National Socialism." I explored the political impact of collective memory and the Cold War in post-war Austria by analyzing monuments, sites, and documents. My classical archaeology and ancient history studies took me down another path- I concentrated in Ancient Greek language, explored the civilizations of the ancient world, and analyzed classical literature.
In online classes, you can expect my younger learners to draw and play and middle and high school-aged learners to participate in the discussion and Socratic Seminars. Students of all ages might also participate in peculiar habits, such as giving high fives to their computer screen or showing off a cool trick. Anything to build community.
I look forward to seeing you in class soon!
