Google Apps- Google Docs / Google Slides / Google Sheets / Google Drive In this 4 lesson interactive course, learners will acquire the essential skills for using Google apps: Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Drive. This course offers how to’s and tips for each of these apps through interesting and engaging projects in each app. These projects will guide learners through exploring important features of the Google apps in context, and allow them to showcase their personal interests. Google Apps have become an essential set of technology programs to master for many academic and career pursuits. This course will build learner confidence and proficiency in word processing, slide presentations, spreadsheets, and online file management using the Google system. **WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS?: - Students with no Google Apps experience at all who want to learn the basics - Students with some previous Google Apps experience who want to review, improve, and learn some new skills **REQUIRED SKILLS: - Able to use a computer mouse/trackpad and type on a keyboard comfortably - Able to write complete sentences fluently - Able to toggle between tabs and windows on their computer and open links from the Zoom chat and/or Outschool classroom **CLASS AGENDAS: Lesson 1: Google Docs - Skills taught: Formatting text effectively using the toolbar (font, color, size, bullets/numbering, paragraphing, bold/italic/underline, highlighting, etc.), inserting images, creating and editing tables, copy/cut & paste, and using the revision history tool. - Project: Create a “fact sheet” about yourself and some of your personal interests (ex: favorite foods, movies, games, colors, things you enjoy in your spare time, etc.). Incorporate a variety of text options and word processing features from Google Docs. Activity - Students will create a mini-project. Lesson 2: Google Slides - Skills taught: Slide presentation format, text box editing (font, text color, size, fill color, outline color, etc.), background options, inserting and resizing images, arranging items effectively, slide transitions, and object animations. - Project: Create a short slide presentation displaying a topic that interests you. Include a title slide and 1-2 additional slides giving examples/detail on the topic, incorporating various Google Slides features. Lesson 3: Google Sheets - Skills taught: Spreadsheet structure and vocabulary (cell, row, column, etc.), entering and formatting text and numbers, calculations, adding and freezing rows/columns, inserting and editing charts/graphs, merging cells, and inserting images. - Project: Create a grocery shopping budget spreadsheet by entering food names and prices from a provided list of choices, calculating a sum to stay within a certain amount of money, and graphing the prices. Incorporate a variety of Google Sheets formatting options. Lesson 4: Google Drive - Skills taught: Navigating the Google Drive menus, creating and labeling folders, moving files into folders, various file options (copying, renaming, deleting, sharing, creating links, etc.), uploading files, and creating new Google files from Drive page (Docs, Slides, Sheets, and more). - Activities: Follow along with the teacher to try out various skills to organize, arrange, and optimize your own Google Drive and its files. Move the class projects from the previous 3 lessons into a folder. Finish any remaining work on the Docs, Slides, and Sheets projects from this class (if needed.) - **BONUS project (if time and interested): Use the Google Drawing program to design an advertisement poster for a place you’ve visited in the past OR would want to visit. Include various text, image, and background options. **TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS: - A laptop or desktop computer is REQUIRED for this class. (No tablets, please!) - A parent-supervised Google account is REQUIRED for this class. This can be a) a personal Google account created specifically for the learner under parent supervision and monitoring or b) the parent's personal Google account that the child is allowed to use for this class. Please avoid using work or school Google accounts for this class. (Personal accounts will have usernames/emails ending with @gmail.com.) Learners will use Google Apps to develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals and managing their own learning. Learners will use Google apps to communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents and peers. All activities should be upload to the Outschool classroom for sharing and collaboration with our friends in class. How is your class structured? My class is structure to be a stress free, fun, and interactive learning environment to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. How will you teach? I will teach using slide presentation, interactive games and discussion for question and answer sessions. What's your teaching style? I believe that every child learns differently. I do my best to accommodate individual learning styles. NOTE: Students will create a mini-projects and share it to the Outschool classroom. As always, I will be available for questions and feedback through the classroom and direct messages.

**Many learners in this class are under age 13. Therefore, personal Google accounts MUST be carefully managed and supervised by a parent (per Google's age requirement policy).
