Come join me for this one time interactive class as I read the popular children’s story, Go Away Big Green Monster! by Ed Emberly. During this class, your child will be introduced to the parts of a book. Students will have the opportunity to follow along and join in with me while I read this story. We will discuss the story, focusing on monsters, colors, and the vocabulary for parts of the head. Next, we will complete a monster craft. I will also include an optional PDF of a worksheet to be done after class. I look forward to teaching your child in my virtual classroom!

Students will learn parts of the head and face, as well as, their colors while listening to a fun monster story!
Students will learn the parts of a book.
Students will practice pre-reading skills such as reading from left to right and top to bottom.
Students will understand words represent a spoken word and convey a message.
Students will answer simple questions about the story.
Students will describe elements in a story, for example, characters and/or setting (time, place, and/or environment).

Two OPTIONAL PDFs included: 1. Big Green Monster Craft Template (I suggest students who struggle with cutting or younger students use this). 2. Parts of the head worksheet for after class Scissors, glue, paper plate or a piece of paper cut into a circle (any color your child wants to their monster to be), scraps of construction paper, pipe cleaners (optional), large googly eyes (optional), large buttons (optional).
