In this class, we will focus on your learner's needs and prepare a relevant, engaging class to cater to them and prepare them for the GCSE exam. **Please note, if you are looking for this class at another time, please message us with the day, time and time-zone and we will be happy to arrange it for you.** This class meets for 30 minutes. The GCSE Qualification is an in-depth exam that make learning English enjoyable, effective and rewarding. Our unique approach encourages continuous progression with a clear path to improve language skills. Classes will include a range of preparation for each part of the exam including: Week 1 - Creative Writing: Write a descriptive piece about a place you have visited. Write a story based on the theme of "Conflict" or "Adventure." Week 2 - Transactional Writing: Write a letter to your local council arguing for or against a new shopping mall in your town. Write a speech for your school assembly on the importance of mental health awareness. Week 3 - Non-fiction Text Analysis: Analyze a newspaper article about climate change, focusing on how the writer uses language to persuade. Compare the presentation of two non-fiction texts discussing the impact of technology on society. Week 4 - Reading Comprehension: Extract key details from a passage about a personal experience (autobiography or memoir). Analyze how the writer uses structure and language to create suspense in a fictional text. Week 5 - Shakespeare: Discuss the theme of ambition in Macbeth. How does Shakespeare portray the relationship between Romeo and Juliet in Romeo and Juliet? Week 6 - Modern Texts: Explore the theme of social class in An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley. How does George Orwell use the character of Napoleon to explore power and corruption in Animal Farm? Week 7 - 19th Century Novels: How is the theme of isolation presented in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley? Discuss the role of fear in The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. Week 8 - Poetry Anthology: Compare how conflict is presented in Exposure by Wilfred Owen and Bayonet Charge by Ted Hughes. Analyze how nature is depicted in The Prelude by William Wordsworth and Storm on the Island by Seamus Heaney. Week 9 - Unseen Poetry: Analyze how the poet conveys the theme of loss in an unseen poem. How will you teach? Our teaching style is dynamic and engaging. The class will be interactive and supportive of all needs. Students will get the opportunity to participate and complete their own tasks. The class will include a range of teaching methods including questions and answers; individual, paired and group activities; games and quizzes. Learners are encouraged to draw something related to the topic to share at the end of each class. What's your teaching style? We are a team of experienced teachers who are calm, patient and supportive whilst ensuring that the children are constantly learning. The environment will be dynamic and learners will actively participate throughout the class. As experienced teachers, we are capable of adapting our style to suit the learners. How much will learners get to interact with the teacher and each other? Students will be active participants throughout each class.
