In this ongoing class, we will meet once a week for one hour to create wonderful and completely individual portraits.
To start, we will explore beginner's drawing techniques such as drawing in proportion, creating facial features using simple shapes and using shadows and shading in portraits. Each week we will create a new portrait while exploring a variety of fun and creative themes.
This class is great for beginners as we will go through each step of the drawing together with my friendly and supportive teaching style. I will help students create drawings which they will be proud to display in their home!
English language learners are also encouraged to join as all of my classes are completely ESL friendly.
There are just a few materials needed to participate in this class, all we need will be a drawing pencil, an eraser, paper, a sharpener and some coloured pencils.
This class is an excellent way to explore our imaginations while also practicing some simple drawing techniques. Let's draw!

Class outline:
Week 1, Friday, March 24th: Proportion and facial features intro/ self portrait.
Week 2, Friday, March 31st: Using shadows and shading/ draw from a photo.
Week 3, Friday, April 7th: Speed drawing! Draw portraits in five minutes.
Week 4, Friday, April 14th: Using colour in a portrait.
Week 5, Friday, April 21 st: Pop Art portrait. Continue exploring colour with a bright and playful Pop Art style portrait.
Week 6, Friday, April 28th: Collage portrait. Create a strange portrait by combining facial features from many reference photos.
Week 7, Friday, May 5th: Surreal portrait. Draw a portrait inspired by the weird and wonderful world of Surrealist art.
Week 8, Friday, May 12th: Funny face portraits. Explore different facial expressions and bring personality to our drawings.
Week 9, Friday, May 19th: Superhero portrait. Explore our superpowers and draw ourselves as a superhero.
Week 10, Friday, May 26th: Fantasy portrait. We'll create a fantasy character and draw it together. It could be a dragon, a monster or even a wizard!

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente

I am a TESOL certified Teacher and Visual Artist from Australia with over five years of experience teaching privately, in schools and online. Throughout my career I have worked with students from all over the world and I have enjoyed developing my skills while working with learners from many different age groups and nationalities. 

I began my teaching journey after studying Visual Art at Adelaide College of the Arts, providing arts and crafts workshops to adolescents in my hometown and teaching life drawing at a local art studio.
While living in Spain I taught arts and crafts workshops in Summer camps and in primary schools which enabled me to bridge language barriers with a variety of creative activities. 
Throughout my time teaching I also exhibited my artwork in galleries around Spain. 

As an Art Teacher I aim to create a fun and supportive environment for all of my students, a place where they can feel free to express themselves creatively and most importantly, where there is no such thing as a mistake!
