Welcome to your fun math class where we will play Kahoot! In this ongoing class, students will have different math lessons reviewed in our meetings. This class is for students in 4th-6th grade that want to learn/review math. *** IF STUDENTS HAVE NEVER PLAYED KAHOOT I WILL SHOW THEM THE PROCESS.*** *** WE JUST NEED EITHER A PHONE/IPAD/COMPUTER/LAPTOP WHERE WE CAN PLAY ELECTRONICALLY.*** Students will take a few notes to get familiarized with the topics being discuss, learners will work on a few problems independently to check for understanding. The last half of class will be fun playing Kahoot to show what we have learned in math. I am a former Elementary and Middle School teacher with experience in 4th-8th grade math. I use simple language, color coding, and aim to make my class as simple as possible for everyone to enjoy, and have fun while learning. 1st Meeting: -Basic multiplication, 1 digit x 1 digit, 2 digits 2x 1 digit and 2 digits x 2 digits (Kahoot game) 2nd Meeting: -Basic lesson on adding and subtracting decimals. Decimals will be subtracted where regrouping is needed (borrowing). (Kahoot game) 3rd Meeting: -Comparing, ordering and rounding decimals to the: tenths, hundredths and thousandths. 4th Meeting: -Order of Operations (PEMDAS). Students will learn the steps necessary to solve problems that contain the following operations: addition, multiplication, division, subtraction, parenthesis and exponents. (Kahoot game) 5th Meeting: -Multiplying and dividing decimals (Kahoot game) 6th Meeting: -Adding and subtracting fractions. Students will learn how to add and subtract fractions when having the same or different denominators, we will also simplify when possible. (Kahoot game) 7th Meeting: -Subtracting fractions when borrowing. It is just like when we do regular subtractions problems where borrowing is needed. Lista de útiles escolares
Students should have a notebook or paper, pencils, (if possible any highlighters) ready for notes, staying organized is part of being a successful student. For the online Kahoot games, students just need an electronic device to sign in and have fun. A phone, tablet, computer, or laptop is needed to play online. the website is kahoot.it Some students have the Kahoot app downloaded to their electronic devices which is great but NOT NEEDED.
Recursos externos
Los estudiantes no necesitarán utilizar ninguna aplicación o sitio web más allá de las herramientas estándar de Outschool.
Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Licenciatura desde Texas A&M University of Kingsville
These are lessons that I have taught both in a public school with a class of 30 students and in private tutoring setting, and I have always been able to identify the misconceptions regarding these lessons. This helps me adjust the lesson to individual needs.
