Students may wish to continue adding finishing touches after class time has ended.Experiencia de clase
Just in time for winter, students will draw a gingerbread house with fun pop up windows. I will show students step by step how to draw a house using basic shapes. We will also look at ways to rearrange and change those shapes to make their house drawing unique to them. As we draw we will brainstorm ideas for details we can add to our houses to give them character. I will show students some tips and techniques for coloring using crayons, and finally we will add pop up windows and doors for 3D effect. Although my instructions are detailed, students are encouraged to add their own unique personality and ideas to their artworks. As students work, I always make sure to provide feedback, encouragement, and additional instructions as needed. If time allows, at the end of class our young artists will have the opportunity to share their artworks with their classmates. **While each demonstration will be finished by the end of class, students who work more slowly may need or wish to continue working on their artworks after we have signed off for the day. Everyone works at a different speed, and it's better to take our time than to rush! Supplies Needed: -9x12 Thick white paper (2 pieces - one for the drawing and one for the pop up windows) -Crayons -Black Sharpie marker -Pencil with eraser -Scissors -Glue stick **You will want to cover the work surface with a large poster board or craft paper to protect it in case permanent markers bleed through the paper.

I have taught elementary art for over 21 years and each of my lessons is developed thoughtfully and practiced ahead of time, keeping in mind student skill level and interests. I am passionate about helping young artists find their unique artistic voices and therefore balance guided drawing with creative expression in this lesson. I provide positive encouragement to students throughout our class time and hope they enjoy this project as much as I do.
