WELCOME TO JAPANESE FOR KIDZ So glad you made it this far. You and your student will not be disappointed. Jasmine-sensei has been a highly successful Japanese teacher on Outschool since 2020, inspiring over 550 students through her engaging and dynamic classes. With countless glowing reviews, she’s known for her passion for teaching, deep love for the Japanese language and culture, and genuine care for her students. Remarkably, 30-40 students have continued learning with Jasmine-sensei since she began teaching on the platform, reflecting the strong bond she builds with her learners. Many of these dedicated students have taken or are even preparing for the prestigious Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), a testament to their commitment and Jasmine-sensei's exceptional guidance. COURSE DESCRIPTION This year-long (40 week) course will be divided into three phases which align with Japanese for Kidz Intro I, II, and III curriculum, and adding Japanese for Kidz - Session I and II. 🌟Phase I (10 lessons) Jasmine-sensei seeks to replicate the same learning style as a native speaker, by first developing a sense of confidence in spoken language before formal writing is introduced. This will also include the subtleties of the respect culture demonstrated in Japanese language. Students will learn introductions, greeting, basic numbers, colors, likes, dislikes, family and animal vocabulary. Most of all, students will fall in love with Japanese language and culture which will motivate and boost their learning experience. 🌟Phase 2 (10 lessons) Students will dive into a handful of common verbs and basic conjugations giving them a sense of Japanese grammatical flow before evening looking at a textbook. In this phase, they will acquire a wealth of vocabulary to talk about their everyday lives, family, and pets. 🌟Phase 3 (Japanese for Young People Textbook - 20 lessons) Students will cover the content of the first five chapters of the JFYP I Textbook. Themes will include (but not be limited to) formal introductions, countries, occupations, time, and calendar. The entire Hiragana alphabet will also be introduced and practiced during this time. While not all students are used to using textbook, I find that many students like having it as a tool for review and a tool to see where they are going. I do try to limit the use of the textbook to drills. WHAT ARE JAPANESE FOR KIDZ CLASSES LIKE? Jasmine-sensei's teaching style is fun, energetic, and student-centered. She believe that kids learn best when they're having fun, so I create a positive and supportive environment where every learner feels excited to participate. I use a highly interactive teaching style that keeps kids engaged. Through storytelling, role-playing, and games, students stay motivated while building essential language skills. I also use colorful slides and short video clips to bring lessons to life! Each class will focus on a specific language theme. We’ll also connect lessons to real-world examples, like popular anime, games, and culture. Since Jasmine-sensei's lesson are a balance between fun and serious learning, we will often start lessons with a quick review of previous lessons, a fun video or fact. The bulk of the lesson will be interactive using slides, games, videos, and breakout rooms for practice with peers. Students will be given equal opportunity to interact with the teacher and be encouraged to be respectful of other students. Students will be informally tested using materials like Quizlet and KAHOOT. Jasmine-sensei provides personalized feedback and encouragement as often as needed to help every child and parent feel confident in this new journey. (Note🌟: I highly appreciate and value communication with parents and welcome their feedback on how students are handling the material, pace, etc. Please feel free to reach out at any time. )

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I have been teaching on Outschool since 2020, and it has been an amazing journey. I lived in Japan for over sixteen years teaching English to young people and adults, while also studying Japanese. I spent the majority of my time in the Kansai region, and raised my son in Japan until he was ten. My daughters also spent two years in Tokyo studying in one of the oldest Japanese Elementary schools in Japan - Meiji Elementary. Not only do I have the experience of learning Japanese as a non-native speaker, but I have also supported my own children on their journey of learning English and Japanese as native and second language learners. I have a BA from Eastern Michigan University in Japanese Language and Cultural Studies and have passed the highest level of the JLPT (N1).
