Learn to play violin, cello, or piano! The best way to master an instrument is through private lessons where you can get one-on-one attention in a mentoring relationship. Through a variety of musical genres, I aim to give students the tools to develop their own musical voice and express themselves through playing music. Lessons are offered for learners at any level of cello, beginning-intermediate violin, and beginning piano. Additional times beyond the open sections may be arranged; just send me a message! I also offer 30-minute or full hour lessons, based on interest and experience.

Each week, you will have a lesson where you play what you have worked on the previous week, and I will give you feedback and guidance going forward. I will demonstrate some things as needed so that you can see a close-up of what skills to work on. I follow several different method books, but I also supplement those with technique warmups and "fun" pieces that you help choose! Whether students want to audition for college or an orchestra, simply have fun exploring the instrument, or anywhere in between, I tailor instruction to meet their personal goals. I would love to guide you on your journey!

I use a variety of methods, including the Suzuki method, Alfred piano series, and Essential Elements for strings. While each lesson will be different and personalized for you, these are essential components we will work on:

- Excellent, tension-free physical posture to ensure comfort for the long run
- Building muscle memory through technique exercises (in the form of games for younger students)
- Ear Training by listening to music frequently and thoughtfully
- Fundamentals of music such as scales and arpeggios
- Mastering a piece of music to get it ready to perform
- Truly understanding music through both note reading and playing by ear

You will also have first access to perform in a Zoom recital; I will email my enrolled students a private link before opening it up to other performers. This is a great opportunity to work towards a goal and gain experience playing for your peers!

Attendance policies: In the case that a student does not arrive for a lesson, I will wait up to 10 minutes in the classroom per Outschool policy. Please send me a message if you are having trouble logging in or some other delay, and I will know to wait longer and assist if I can!

For makeup lessons, I will offer a makeup time if the lesson is cancelled at least 24 hours ahead. Since your time is reserved for you alone, I will not be able to offer makeups in the case of last-minute cancellations. The makeup lesson will be scheduled at a mutually agreeable time, preferably at your same lesson time on one of the extra weeks built into the semester.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students may work on improving pieces they are playing for school, preparing for an audition into a new ensemble, learning lots of solo pieces, or any combination of goals. In any scenario, I make sure to develop technique on the instrument, intellectual understanding of music, and intuitive musical expressivity.
