Topics Covered: Selecting and adding instruments to your score Setting up the score layout What are time signatures and how to choose them Activities: Experimenting with different time signatures Adding multiple instruments to a scoreLesson 3Music Notation and Theme BuildingObjective: Learn basic music notation and begin building a musical theme. Topics Covered: Introduction to music notation: notes, rests, and measures Creating a simple melody or theme Activities: Copying a basic melody in Musescore Notating a basic melody in MuseScoreLesson 4Variations on a Theme Part IObjective: Develop variations on the initial theme. - Students will have a basic understanding of how to use the Musescore platform. They will also acquire (if they don't already have) a basic understanding of music theory. Mostly they will be more comfortable with tips and tricks of music composition.
I teach composition using musescore in my private piano classes and I compose my own music in musescore.
