Nivel Beginner - Intermediate
This class is a self-paced version of my popular Freedom With Fractions live course! This class will focus on fundamental concepts of fractions using pictures and visuals. Class topics will include: equivalent fractions, comparing fractions with like and unlike numerators and denominators, writing fractions on a number line, and writing improper fractions. This class is great for students who are just beginning to learn about fractions, as we will use many visuals and concrete representations of fractions. Two lessons will be posted every week that go over the topics listed above. The first video will cover the concept for the week at a more basic level. The second video will cover the same topic, but will be slightly more advanced; it will build on what was taught during the first lesson. Check the syllabus for a more detailed description of what to expect from each lesson! A brief worksheet will be posted with each video to allow students the opportunity to practice what they have learned. They can post their completed assignment as a comment on the classroom page, and I will provide feedback, if desired. There will also be a Gimkit interactive game posted at the beginning of the class. This game will have questions that cover all of the topics we learn in the class; students can play it any time to get extra practice with the class curriculum. This will also be posted again at the end of the class during the review week. We will work through the course concepts together; I will show examples and help students with practice problems.

Lección 1:
Equivalent Fractions Basics
We will learn about basic equivalent fractions. We will talk about why and how fractions can be equivalent, and we will look at visuals to aid in understanding. Students will practice finding some basic equivalent fractions. Video Length: 13 minutes 2 asignaciones
Lección 2:
Equivalent Fractions Advanced
We will learn about how multiplication relates to finding equivalent fractions. We will also learn what it means to reduce or simplify fractions. We will go over some examples together. Video Length: 21 minutes 1 tarea
Unidad 2: Comparing Fractions
Lección 3:
Comparing Fractions Basics
We will learn how to compare fractions. In this lesson, we will not be using common denominators. We will use visuals to help students develop a conceptual understanding. Students will practice comparing basic fractions with like and unlike numerators and denominators. Video Length: 19 minutes 1 tarea
Lección 4:
Comparing Fractions Advanced
We will build on what we learned on Monday, looking at how we might use common denominators to compare fractions. Video Length: 18 minutes 1 tarea

A Gimkit game will be linked to the class. This is an interactive game that will have questions that cover all of the course content. Students can play the game to review content throughout the course, or they can play it during the review week at the end of the course.

Hello! So glad you are here! I am excited to be teaching on Outschool. I have taught elementary school for four years, with 1.5 of those years being online. I am currently teaching 6th grade science. I love teaching multiplication, division, fractions, phonics, science, and more! I love connecting with my students and helping them learn. It is very rewarding to see my students progress and grow. I believe that every child has potential, and I love helping them realize their potential.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from BYU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a minor in TESOL K-12 (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages). I also finished my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction through Western Governor’s University.
I love running, waterskiing, and my dog, Daisy! I also love music and play the piano and the violin.
