I will choose a topic each week and plan a short lesson; the class will then create a food activity that goes along with the topic and the lesson.

This is class will eventually allow learner driven topics.
  
I will have power points, videos, class discussions, printouts, games, quizzes and other art activities to help teach the lesson; however, the food activity will be the highlight.  Some foods may need to be cooked in the oven or in the microwave. Kids should be able to complete the activities with a little help from adults.

Topics will range from historical to random to science to nature to seasonal to topics learners want to learn about!

Week of April 9 - Pioneer Days - we learn about what life was like in the wild frontier and build an edible wagon!

Week of April 16 - Edible Art Frames!

Week of April 23 - Bubble Science!

week of April 30 - Ice Cream in a Bag!

Students will learn about various topics - science, history, art, math, nutrition and food science. Students will gain some cooking skills and knowledge of the kitchen and supplies used in the kitchen!

Students will also have the chance to learn about topics that they are interested in as we become a learner driven class!

I will give a complete schedule of activities and supplies needed for each class in case there are any allergies present. I use supplies that are usually found in the home or easily found in the grocery store. Occasionally, adult supervision and/or a microwave or oven may be necessary to complete the food project. This will be mentioned in the supply list.

I have taught a class like this for learners age kindergarten to 5th grade for the past 6 years. It was always the highlight of the week for myself as the teacher and the learners! It is such a fun way to learn the material and topic!
