According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the veterinary field is expected to grow by 18% between now and 2028. This is much higher than the growth for other professions. From cute dolphins to scruffy wolves to coyotes, leopards, and scorpions, the health, husbandry, and conservation of wildlife animals really captures the hearts of children all over the world. Likewise, more people are owning pets now than ever before and this includes "exotic" pets. Welcome to this fast-paced course. The live version of this class was the first long-term on-going veterinary course brought to Outschool and I'm honored to offer it as a flex class as well. I'm so excited to bring you a "fluff-free" flex course filled to the brim with practical information that any aspiring veterinarian would want to know. If you need an introductory course, my 4-day Camp is a great place to start! Most students here have taken the 4-day Camp first. Let's dive into some of veterinary science's popular topics and take a look at these fascinating animals! Introductory Course: https://outschool.com/classes/flex-veterinary-medicine-introduction-3KUJuGx0 **Please Note** I will not diagnose nor provide medical advice (diagnosis, treatment, or prescriptions) for any student's pet. ** No Live Classes ** Each Week: Two classes are posted on Mondays. Each class (2x per week) will include two lecture-style, coached-typed videos and an interactive portion of the class. Flex courses are self-paced. Age-appropriate clips of vet care may be shown. I respond to student questions within 24-48 hours unless otherwise noted. Each class has three videos. The longest group of class videos totals 74 minutes. The shortest is 29 minutes. Most average 45-55 minutes for all three videos for one class combined. Interactive Class Activities are Optional and Include: - polls, quizzes, and games within the video itself - decision-based games - one escape room game - two grid-logic puzzles - weekly discussion discussions on the classroom wall - opportunities for students to make videos and present Week 1 Class 1: Abbreviations in Vet Medicine Decision Making: Assessing and Evaluating the Emergency Patient Week 1 Class 2: Professionalism and Language in the Vet World Ruminant Digestion Week 2 Class 3: Scientific Method and Significance in Vet Sciences Zoonotic Diseases Week 2 Class 4: Resume Building Psuedo-Ruminant Digestion Week 3 Class 5: Preparing for the First Job/Internship Understanding Bloodwork Week 3 Class 6: Getting the Most from an Observation Internship Safe Animal Handling and Urinalysis Week 4 Class 7: Advice from Actual University Professors Fields of Veterinary Medicine Week 4 Class 8: Study Habits Anatomical Positioning Terms Week 5 Class 9: Vet School Admissions (Primarily US-based) Compare Integumentary System Week 5 Class 10: What to do if you Don't Get Into Vet School IV's and Fluid Administration Week 6 Class 11: Myths and Facts about Vet Med Bones/Muscles Week 6 Class 12: Vets in History who Affect the Present Reading Syringes Week 7 Class 13: Ethics Marine Science Week 7 Class 14: Top Vet Schools in the World Nervous System/Homeostasis Week 8 Class 15: Vets Around the World Cardiovascular System Week 8 Class 16: Importance of Food Animal Science Compare Digestive Systems Week 9 Class 17: Veterinary Root Words Avian Comparisons Week 9 Class 18: How Holidays Change the Vet Clinic There are some printables included such as guided notes and diagrams. I have provided many ways in this class for learners to learn based on different learning styles. If your child does not thrive with a type of learning, skip it. Please message me with any questions before or after enrollment. *** Please Note: I do not cancel this class for low enrollment. Please Note: Enrolling in the FLEX course of this class is considerably cheaper than the live version of this course. However, the live on-going version of this course can be found here: https://outschool.com/classes/biology-veterinarian-club-wild-and-domesticated-animals-YYDdEfB5#usSwirNx6I
