Experiencia de clase

In Week One we will take a look at what the students have written and determine where they might need help.
Week Two we will take a look at their characters and see what it will take to make them believable.
Week three we will take a look at their settings and make sure they work with the story they are telling.
Week Four we will look at character motivations and make sure they will support the story.
Week Five we will take a closer look at the antagonist and the conflict in the story.
Week Six we will look at the inciting incidents.
Week Seven we will look at Three Act Structure and make sure the story is following and supporting the structure.
Week Eight we will continue to look at the Three Act Structure.
Week NIne we will look at some mechanics like show don't tell and the use of active-vs-passive voice in their writing.
Week Ten will take a look at the opening of their story.
Week Eleven will take a look at the climax and the journey the protagonist has taken to reach the conclusion of the story. We will also ensure that the resolution shows the change in the character and their world.
In Week Twelve we will discuss critiquing, editing and publishing and compare self publishing to traditional publishing. We will also discuss finding a critique group and writer's group and the importance of each.

Students will submit sections of their books related to the discussions from the previous weeks. I will expect the students to copy and paste their homework into the classroom so we can discuss and suggest ways to improve their work.
Through class discussion we will explore ways for the students to improve their stories and finish writing them.
Metas de aprendizaje
The ultimate goal is to get the students to finish their first draft and start on the path to getting their books publication ready.
