Students will receive informal feedback from me in the Classroom chat, and before and/or after our class. Feedback will also occur during the class session as well.Experiencia de clase
Are a huge fan of adventure, monster, fantasy, superhero and sci-fi films? Are you looking for an environment to discuss your love for these films with your peers? Then this class is for you! Each class we'll discuss and analyze a different film (seek the schedule at the bottom of this section). We'll cover many of the following themes and concepts: story and character development, character motivations, script writing, film marketing, film development (casting, setting, practical effects, costumes, CGI, music and sound, etc.) and more. Most importantly of all, I will make sure every student gets the chance to voice their opinions! This is a highly-interactive, discussion-based class that encourages student engagement and conversation. I will structure our discussion by going over a handful of topics pertinent to our given film that week, and also allow students the opportunity to bring their own discussion topics for that given film to the table as well. I will build our ongoing schedule of films for the course, taking into account input from the students in each section. Please Note: This is an ongoing class, which means students are not required to join each and every week, nor it is necessary to have attended in previous weeks. In other words, each class session will have a distinct film exclusive to that week that will guide our discussion. Every class stands alone, and therefore it is not necessary or required to attend for every session the course is offered. In short, students can come and go as they please! If there are any questions about this please don't hesitate to reach out. Spoiler warning: unless you really don't mind having the entire story spoiled for you, make sure you watch the scheduled film in advance of each class! *I will update regularly the films to be discussed for each week and each current section in the space below. Please refer here for the latest information on what will be covered in each class. As always, if there are any questions please let me know. Our ongoing schedule: (generally we will meet every two weeks; will be updated regularly) - Tuesday, January 9: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) - Tuesday, January 23: Spider-Man 3 (2007) - Tuesday, February 6: TBD; final class!
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will get the opportunity to hone their critical thinking skills, learn about film studies and film production, and practice having respectful conversations with their peers.

Lista de útiles escolares
Subscriptions to movie streaming platforms (Netflix, Disney+, Amazon, etc.) are helpful in being able to watch the required movies for each. Absent that, most films can be rented online and streamed for approximately $4.00. Certain films may also be available for rent at your local public or school library.
Recursos externos
Los estudiantes no necesitarán utilizar ninguna aplicación o sitio web más allá de las herramientas estándar de Outschool.

I'm a huge fan of movies and an amateur film buff, particularly in the genres of adventure, sci-fi, superhero and fantasy. I love having conversations about movies and the filmmaking process.
As a teacher, I have extensive experience in managing classroom discussions of all ages and ability levels. My goal is to ensure that every student has a chance to make contributions, provide their opinion, and/or demonstrate what they've learned.
