Calling all kids interested in farms, and animals, and tractors. You don't have to live on a farm to be in this chat class! This is a space to ask questions about farming and animals, and maybe talk about what you would like one day. This is learner-led discussion-based and provides an opportunity to share daily lives on the farm, progress, tips, and questions with other learners interested or living on a farm. Learners are encouraged to: * Share a weekly update * Bring new topics and questions * Share video or photos, * Participate in student-led interactive discussion * Help others problem solve * Make friends with other farm kids The class discussion will be laid-back; students will not need to prepare anything prior to class time, and may show up just prepared to chat. Discussion topics will be largely seasonally relevant and may include subjects such as: Livestock Balancing farm life and school My favorite pet Celebrating harvest Garden planting and harvest Animal and crop spotlights Beautiful sunrises and sunsets My favorite farm experience Foraging Living in a small town or rural setting Theme: Week of 1/5---Livestock benefits Week of 1/12--different cattle species Week of 1/19--benefits of farm dogs Week of 1/26--Are barn cats a good idea?

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Licenciatura en Ciencia medioambiental desde The Ohio State University
I have been homesteading for more than two decades: living on a farm, raising a garden, foraging, and raising various animals over the years, including: dairy goats, sheep, cattle, pigs, ducks, turkeys, chickens, rabbits, dogs, and cats. I also worked as a student researcher at The Ohio State University during my undergrad education. At that time I worked at the dairy cattle barns and also at the beef and sheep facilities. Over the last 14 years I have taught people of all ages (prek ages through giving wildlife programs at assisted living centers). Most of the time I am teaching about trees and wildflowers and wildlife to adults. Each year though I give multiple different programs for kids of all ages for school programs, church groups, and summer camps. I love getting kids outside and teaching them about the fascinating things that are found in nature!
