Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
All the teachers with Hosanna have a B.A., have taken classes in Child Development, Education, and curriculum and pedagogy, and have worked in the field of education a minimum of 2 years, prior to being hired. They also go through a teacher training program facilitated by the Director on working with diverse learners, curriculum development, literacy development, arts-integrated lessons, and building a positive classroom environment where students can flourish.
Our Director, one of the teachers, has been an educator for over 25 years. She received her undergraduate training from UCLA in English and African American Studies, and her graduate training in Education from Harvard University (Ed.M.), CSU Dominguez Hills (Teaching Credential), and UC Berkeley (Ph.D.). She first started as an elementary teacher (her favorite!), taught middle school English, and currently is a professor in a Teacher Education program, where she prepares pre-service teachers how to teach all learners successfully. She also teaches college writing, the history of education, African American education history, and facilitates writing workshops for elementary and middle school students. She employs reader’s theater as a literacy strategy and performative tool to get students engaged with learning.
