There won't be any homework assigned as this is a long-term game, but there will be moments where their characters will level up throughout the campaign, in which I will instruct how they can level up their characters and what to take into consideration. Mostly this will be done between sessions, in which the learner has one week to do this activity.Experiencia de clase

In this 10 week course, students will be playing their characters in a new setting: the Feywild! This D&D plane of existence is quite fun, mysterious, magical, and quirky. There will be some fun role-playing/acting the students will be challenged with as there are some fun and strange creatures they will come across, whether to ask for help in their adventure or to potentially fight depending on how things go in the game. The purpose of teaching D&D by playing it, is to give students an opportunity to experience all elements of the game that include, but are not limited too: becoming a different person and acting how they would act, solving situational problems, making quick decisions in combat that could either help or harm their party members, and to investigate a new, created place that will enhance their imaginations and creativity. I will also have images to help show key scenes or battle areas on a PowerPoint slide, there will be links posted in some cases to describe and explain unique items they may obtain in the game. When it comes to this game, I enjoy letting the learners tell me where they would like to go or what they would like to do to fully explore the world I bring them too. I do not like controlling any experience, so I cannot wait to see where the learners will take me, as well as themselves, in this new campaign class. Schedule will be as follows: Week 1, Sept 25th: Session 0- Planning and Getting to Know the Characters Week 2, Oct 2nd: Campaign adventure begins, Introducing the Feywild Week 3, Oct 9th: Campaign continues, Cities and Citadels in Sight Week 4, Oct 16th: Campaign continues, Conflicts and Main Problem Introduced Week 5, Oct 23rd: Campaign continues, Finding a Solution/Conflict pursues Week 6, Oct 30th: Campaign continues, Finding a Solution/Conflict pursues Week 7, Nov 6th: Campaign continues, Finding a Solution/Conflict pursues Week 8, Nov 13th: Campaign continues, Finding a Solution/Conflict pursues Week 9, Nov 20th: Campaign Continues, Potential Resolution/Conflict ends Week 10. Orientación para padres
In Dungeons and Dragons, violence does tend to be part of the game, especially if your child's character likes to fight or slay evil monsters. This will be toned down and not described in too much detail, but it will be present throughout. As there is no video game aspect or login information required to play Dungeons and Dragons, your child's personal information will always be protected as no personal information is required. We play the game via PowerPoint to display maps, character tokens, etc.
Lista de útiles escolares
Learners will need to have a level 4 character to participate in this campaign. They can have their characters made on D&D Beyond or paper copy. I also recommend that learners have a notebook or some way to take notes as the story/adventure progresses. D&D dice is also a benefit for your learner to participate fully, but if not possible, there are online dice rollers that I can provide in our first session.
Recursos externos
Los estudiantes no necesitarán utilizar ninguna aplicación o sitio web más allá de las herramientas estándar de Outschool.
Fuentes
All sources for this teaching campaign will be created and made by myself, so there will not be any other sources required for the class as I will provide what is needed.
Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hello! My name is Violet Wallace and I teach a variety of subjects and topics from debate and persuasion to character building, and even Dungeons and Dragons! When it comes to my teaching career, I have taught full time for 3 years now; one year in Canada in Adult Education teaching English Language Arts and Computer Studies and two years in the UK covering subjects from English Language Arts, Religious Studies, Photography, French, Spanish, and a bit of Biology! I believe that teachers need to be passionate about what they teach, caring and understanding to their students, and to be the best mentors/support systems they can be for their students. Progress is important and if we are having fun while being challenged along the way, a lot of growth will happen naturally in the classroom. I also have a pet cat named Wasabi who may make the occasional appearance in class!
