If you're considering enrolling your learner into a Latin class but you're not sure about committing to a semester-long class, start here with Everyday Latin. Dip your toes into learning about Latin and Roman culture with this introductory class! This is a short class designed for students interested in learning about the Latin Language, Roman Culture, and how it relates to our lives today. This class will not focus on Latin grammar and how to read Latin in detail but will give students a glimpse into what learning the Latin Language will be like, key differences between Latin and English, and touch on some of the fun stuff about Ancient Roman culture. If you are looking for a more focused Latin Language class, look at our Introduction To Latin I class. Class 1: Why Does Latin Matter? - What's the point of learning a dead language? How does it impact our lives today?/What's Different About Latin?: Inflection, Conjugating Verbs, Declining Nouns. Class 2: Mythology, Art, and Literature - What are they key myths, art, and literature from Ancient Rome? Do they have any impact on the things we create today? Class 3: History (The Cool Stuff) - We will look at some of the most interesting and impactful events in Ancient Roman history. Class 4: Having Fun (Daily Life, Holidays, Festivals, and more) - We will talk about how Romans lived their lives and had fun. We will discuss some of the key cultural elements from their society and how it impacts our world today.

Ralston M. has been studying Latin since 2007. In high school, he was highly involved in classics organizations such as the National Junior Classical League and his local chapter of the JCL. In his 3 years as a part of the JCL, he won several awards on the state and national levels. Combined, he has earned over 60 Latin awards from the Classical Association of the Middle West and South (CAMWS), the National Latin Exam (NLE), Georgia Junior Classical League (GJCL), and National Junior Classical League (NJCL). He served as an officer of his state chapter from 2009 - 2010. In college, Ralston went on to pursue a degree in Latin. He earned his B.A. in Latin from Emory University in 2014. At this time, Ralston was also inducted into Eta Sigma Phi (https://www.etasigmaphi.org/2013-2014-initiates/), the Honors Society for Classics. Since then, Ralston has taught Latin to students at all levels, including for AP Latin exam, helping other students to achieve perfect scores like he once did.
Ralston brings a deep love of Latin and Ancient Roman culture to his classes and can share a deep understanding of the history, culture, and language with students. Ralston loves to share with students the unique ways Ancient Roman society still has an impact on today.
