Tarea
1-2 horas por semana. The homework will be to finish an edited draft of a resume with sensitive information (address, social security number, etc.) blocked out. I will write possible corrections and improvements on the paper. Students will finish their resume by using these corrections and send it again.Evaluación
A letter grade will not be given, but a participation grade will be rated from 1-3 (3 being the highest). The teacher will write an informal report of possible improvements for the resume.Calificación

In this class, students will learn how to write resumes based on their goals. The student can bring an actual job description that they want to apply to OR the teacher can bring a mock form (a fake form for practice). Students will need to bring short sentences about their previous school or work experience (I studied music. I washed dishes. I cooked hamburgers. I volunteered at the animal shelter. My favorite class is music). The teacher will bring a list of resume words to help the student find what would best fit their work. With these, sentences like "I cooked hamburgers" will become "Oversaw the production of food and ensured adherence to food safety standards." If the student intends to actually apply to jobs with this information, it is important that they practice and understand information on the resume. Since this is a specific type of writing, it may not be exactly what is expected in traditional writing. For example, resume bullets should not begin with "I" (I oversaw...), so it is important not to overcorrect the resumes based on traditional classroom writing. Please, follow the resume samples that I provide for the best result. There will be information that I will be unable to help the student fill out due to security reasons. For these, I will provide a sample so that the student can add them after class. It is important to note that this class is not on "How to Get a Job." This is to teach them one form of paperwork for a job. If the student does not get a job, it is out of my control, and my best advice is to try and try again. :) If you do not see a time that works for you, let me know and we can try to find a better time. If the student needs further assistance or they want to redo the resume with me in class, please email me about booking a second class.
