Kyle Keeley is the class clown, well-liked by his classmates and teachers and an avid player of all games, including board games, word games, card games and video games in particular.   He idolises 'Luigi Lemoncello', the most infamous and inventive video game creator in history, who also happens to be the brilliant mind behind the construction of the new town library.
Kyle is given the chance of a lifetime to be one of the first twelve children to check into the library for an overnight of games, food, and fun. But the doors are still locked when daybreak arrives. To escape Kyle and the group will need to solve clues and hidden puzzles to unlock the doors!

A New York Times Bestseller and nominated for 14 state awards, this novel is entertaining, humorous and filled with mind bending puzzles! This class will have a reading assignment each week which will be around 50 pages, learners will need their own copy of the book 'Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library' by Chris Grabenstein.

Learners will meet once a week to engage with the text in a series of fun activities which will include escape rooms, creative writing activities, class discussion, interactive games and quizzes related to the week's chapters.
In our final meeting learners will be asked to write a mini essay during class to compare and contrast the best vs the worst players of the game. Our aim will be to complete activities during class time, homework will be reading only with the exception of the presentation on week 3.

Week 1 - Chapters 1-10 , escape room on assigned chapters

Week 3 - Chapters 21 - 30, In Mr. Lemoncello’s Great Library Race, Kyle and his friends learn about how many extremely successful people experienced a lot of failure that eventually led to their success. Learners will be asked to research a successful person who they find interesting, and make a presentation to the class showing how that person learned from their failures.
Week 4 - Chapters 31 - 40, escape room on assigned chapters
Week 5 - Chapters 41 - 49, book vs movie comparison discussion and activities on Nearpod
