In this fun, fast-paced, and highly engaging course, students will brainstorm a business idea, build it, protect it, organize it, and present it! This is a TON of knowledge and experience packed into a 10-week course! During week 1, each student will brainstorm their own unique business idea. The remainder of the course will walk students through the process of turning that idea into a real, and very comprehensive business plan! Finally, we'll host an Entrepreneur Fair! Students will prepare a 3-5 minute presentation to share their business plan and convince me, the "shark tank", why I should 'invest' in their business! Students will be encouraged to get creative and have fun with these presentations! Weekly topics will cover: 1) The Importance of Small Business / Developing an Idea 2) Market Research 3) Branding / Writing a Mission Statement 4) The Corporate Veil / Legal Entities 5) Intellectual Property 6) Writing and Signing a Contract 7) Marketing 8) Business Operations and Organization 9) The Business Plan / Business Ethics 10) Entrepreneur Fair! Weekly homework assignments will help students perform practical, real-world research, planning, and business development directly related to the lesson. For example, students will design a logo, write a contract, visit the US Patent & Trademark Office website to see if their business name is available, and much, much more! Students do not need any previous business education or experience to enjoy this class. It's perfect for any young entrepreneur , at any level, who wants to TRULY learn how to launch a business! I hold both bachelors and masters degrees in legal studies, worked as a business litigation paralegal for 3+ years, and spent years as a freelance ghostwriter writing educational marketing content and books for attorneys, victims rights advocates, and serial entrepreneurs. I've also owned several small businesses of my own, spanning nearly 10 years. Much of the material provided in this course is based on one of the ghostwritten books, as well as my experience in business and law. Locally, I host this same 10-week course for middle and high school students. I LOVE to help build the next generation of entrepreneurs and creators!!
