This 15 week flexible schedule art class will have videos hosted through Youtube (link only) of me teaching. You will be able to access the link from the Outschool classroom. This class is intended to be fun and introduce some basic art principals and artists. Some of the projects are more child led and some are projects you follow along with the video to complete. This class will require you to have some art supplies that you may need to purchase. Supplies will be listed below. For each class students will be asked to watch the video and complete the art project. Students should post their creations in the classroom for their classmates to see. We will comment on each other's artwork, share, and give feedback. The 15 project titles are: Swirly sky trees: Use painted paper to make a Van Gough-ish sky with evergreen trees in the foreground. This project is a collage style. Northern lights polar bears: This project uses soft chalk pastels or neon pastels to make the northern lights Gnomes: A huge kid pleaser, this project uses shaving cream and glue to make the gnome's beard. It dries fluffy!! Reindeer on tundra: Learn about artist John Savio Sami and create a reindeer standing on the tundra Mice skating: Learn about perspective and create an ice skating mouse. This project uses watercolor resist. Fox: Let's learn about tints, tones, and shades while creating this monochrome fox project Snow mouse: Let's layer mediums to create a mouse in the snow. Can make the mouse a royal mouse with a crown. Snow palace: This fun project uses air dry clay to make a snow castle. Snowflakes: What's more fun than painting? Painting on aluminum foil! Snow donuts: Learn about this unique weather phenomenon and then create a whimsical version. This project brings back the oh so fun shaving cream glue too. Dancing deer: This low key project uses crayons, and looks at shape and movement in art Reindeer collage: Let's use up some saved collage materials or painted paper to make these whimsical reindeer Winter ballet: Learn about artist Edgar Degas and ballerina Misty Copeland. Then create an impressionism themed ballerina. Singing bird: Let's use our watercolors to paint a cardinal! Snow globe: What will you draw in your snow globe? This project is very open-ended with student choice. Look in the supply area to find a list of supplies you need.

Adults may need to supervise use of art supplies, especially scissors and glue and paint. You should set your child up to succeed in an area where a mess can be made, and your screen won't be destroyed in the process if something spills.
