Through an interactive lesson we will learn the the basics of the periodic table and the parts of an element.  We will start by taking a look at the periodic table and its basic construction. Then we will break the elements apart into their basic parts: protons, neutrons, electrons, atomic symbols, atomic mass, and atomic name. While learning and asking questions, learners will then begin forming ideas about their own Menacing Elemental Monsters.  Learners then, will get serious about their own monsters, while staying true to the science.  During this time learners can ask additional questions and get feedback on their monsters.  Before class ends, everyone can share their sketches with the classroom.  Prior knowledge of the periodic table is very helpful for this course.
