Orientación para padres
This book is recommended for both middle school and high school students. Its purpose is to teach about adolescent challenges. The Book Review Section from June 15, 2012 of The New York Times stated, "... “See You at Harry’s,” offers, on the one hand, a deft and delicate handling of commonplace traumas — how to negotiate bullying on the school bus, what it means for everyone in a family when a teenager comes to terms with his sexuality — and, on the other, the enormous and mercifully rare drama of a child’s accidental death." (https://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/17/books/review/see-you-at-harrys-by-jo-knowles.html) ***Please be aware that this novel is written for young adults who are mature and able to handle reading and discussing very real life challenges. This book addresses loneliness, feeling unappreciated, feelings of neglect, homosexuality and the use of the word 'gay', bullying, and hints at flirting and kissing. As mentioned above, another important issue is a tragic death that the family must learn to deal with. Please take a moment to look up a summary of the novel so that you are more familiar with its content.***

I have taught this novel for several years with much success. This literary analysis focuses on adolescent challenges. Through guided discussions, students are able to gain an understanding of the numerous difficulties that young adults face while growing up. As the reader is able to connect to specific parts of the novel, he or she gains the understanding that so many individuals are faced with daily challenges. As readers, we learn that hardships and changes are a part of life. Our goal is to find ways to cope with these challenges.
