SUBJECT TAUGHT:  As a seasoned English Language Arts teacher with three decades of experience, I have expertise in developing dynamic lessons. These lessons are not only tailored to meet grade-specific standards, but they also foster students' academic growth.  

TOPICS COVERED:  My areas of instruction include:
-- Reading Comprehension: I cover various genres, including literary prose, poetry, and informational text.
-- Grammar (Editing): I facilitate activities that allow students to hone their grammar skills through practice from simple recall to application and synthesis.
-- The Writing Process: Guidance is provided in informational, narrative, and creative writing techniques.

TUTORING STRUCTURE:  The structure of the first tutoring session is as follows:
After receiving a tutoring request, I initiate a dialogue with the student and parent of the student, either through email or online platforms, to gain a clear understanding of the student's academic needs. This understanding forms the basis for a student portfolio, complete with focused learning goals, which I share during our first session.

I then design an interactive lesson that targets the student's specific learning needs. Post-lesson, I compile a progress report detailing the student's achievements during the session, which I subsequently share with the parent via email.

All subsequent sessions include evaluating the student's progress and continuing student-centered practice.

TEACHING STYLE:  My teaching philosophy hinges on a student-centered approach, where I facilitate the learning process. Students are tasked with completing various activities and are encouraged to participate in discussions throughout each session.
