Welcome to Egyptian Gods and Mythical Creatures and How to Draw Them! Each week students will learn about a new mythical creature as they draw step-by-step with the teacher. These creatures can vary in form from monsters all the way up to human forms. We will also be drawing them in a semi-realistic art style.

At the beginning of class we will start out by learning about an artist from Egypt, so we can learn more about the culture through their creators! Some days we may go more in depth with certain cultural aspects such as ancient monuments, fashion, music etc. After being introduced to the cultural topic, we will talk a bit about the God or creature for the week and create a step-by-step drawing. I will take the time to give them quick tips throughout the class that will help your learner to develop their artistic skills. The process of drawing will likely be different from what your student is familiar with, we typically start with basic shapes (circles, simple lines, rectangles) and go back to add more details along the way. We will also be learning basic human anatomy for some of the creatures that we draw.

Below you will find the weekly subject and the artist for the class.

Hello,
My name is Ms. Elizabeth Suriani, and I am a full-time artist from Northern Colorado. I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a minor in Art History in 2016. While at the University of Wyoming I primarily studied 2D art style, including oil painting and print making. I also studied in Florence, Italy during the fall of 2015 where I studied architectural and figurative drawing, as well as fresco restoration.

Since 2015 I have been teaching art and art history to students ranging from ages 5-17 years old with lessons ranging from basic instructions, all the way to advanced classes and color theory for older students. I love teaching art and am currently teaching two international students in Italy and Thailand.

I have recently returned home from teaching English as a second language in Bangkok, Thailand with students aging from 2-16 years old. I loved working with my students and miss them dearly.
On top of being a full-time artist, I have also started my own jewelry business, as well as teaching English Language to children in China!

When teaching, I love to keep things fun and light. I believe that seriousness doesn’t do a young mind any good when learning art at an early age, it tends to discourage them instead. I want to help my students find art or anything they are passionate about and feel like they have a space to ask questions, experiment, and flourish.
I can’t wait to see you in class!
